Who is Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale?

Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization responsible for the programming, beautification and promotion of Riverwalk Park. We are composed primarily of volunteer private citizens and overseen by a board of directors. All members uphold the organization’s directive, as stated in its mission statement, “to be the catalyst in building and nurturing Riverwalk as a vibrant community connected by the New River.” We pursue our mission through a wide range of fundraising and membership events and advocacy on behalf of the Park through our informative website and GoRiverwalk magazine.

Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale has its origin with the City of Fort Lauderdale. In December 1988, only three years after securing funding for a linear public park along the New River, the City established Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale to develop fundraising and advocacy efforts. Since its launch, we have played a significant role in obtaining a “regional park” designation from Broward County; guiding redevelopment and Park expansion efforts; and contributing to the three most recent City plans for enhancing the downtown core. Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale works closely with the City, the County,  the Downtown Development Authority of Fort Lauderdale, and other important partners in the public and private sectors in overseeing the development, activation and growth for our linear park and downtown.   It is through these partnerships that we work to produce events and activities benefiting the Park and the city. These events and activities have made Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale an invested participant in the growth of Fort Lauderdale and its downtown.

Pat Anderson, Artist

Pat AndersonPat Anderson’s art combines detail and vibrant colors into an interesting new image of a subject. Her imagination, artistic experiences, and extensive island cruising with Capt. Pete, her late husband, have provided additional character and depth to her paintings.

Pat created and published “My Own Cruising Journal,” an actual journal of her artwork while cruising together on their yacht, in 1992, and expanded this cover design onto a variety of garments and merchandise.

In 1996, the large retail store named after My Own Cruising Journal opened in the upscale city of Lighthouse Point, FL. They expanded the business by selling several lines of tropical and marine clothing, gifts, and pieces of artwork.

Dynamic Effects & Fireworks Company was established by Bob & Julie Smith in January 2001.  Since that time, we have produced over 1000 displays ranging from spectacular outdoor aerial displays to indoor pyrotechnic programs. Coming from backgrounds in Banking / Marketing, Law   Enforcement, and the Fire  Service, the owners of Dynamic Effects & Fireworks Company have the understanding and knowledge required to perform to the strict rules and regulations applied in the fireworks industry. We pride ourselves on the 100% success rate of shows with no violations or incidents.

Having been involved in the fireworks industry for over 25 years, our experience speaks for itself. The staff and crews of Dynamic Effects have produced effects ranging from small confetti programs to Super Bowl Half-time shows and Presidential Election Campaigns. In addition to our fireworks displays, Dynamic Effects & Fireworks has mastered the use of indoor effects, close proximity pyrotechnics, and flame effects. This has allowed us to present spectacular rooftop, stadium and indoor displays once thought impossible. From grand openings of malls, conventions, product introduction, sporting and special events, Dynamic Effects has done it all.

  • Dynamic Effects has been providing the pyrotechnics along with being a contributing sponsor to the parade since 2005, The technicians that fire the show have been involved with the parade’s fireworks since 1995.
  • Effects are fired for 2.5 hours along 12 miles of the New River and the Intracoastal Waterway combined.
  • Average number of pyrotechnic effects fired each year ranges from 1800 to 2000.
  • It takes a crew of five technicians to set-up, fire and tear down the show over a three-day period.
  • By far, the crews most exciting part of the event each year is in two parts. The first is the response from the spectators that view the event. Each year the grandstand area spectators respond with more noise and applause than the noise we create from firing the fireworks. The second point has to be just south of the Sunrise Blvd and Oakland Park Blvd bridges. The spectators in this area are so crazy and so much fun. Each year we try our best to increase the amount of noise we create because the echo effect off the buildings is fantastic. It really pumps up everyone watching the event.
