1983 to 2021 – Theme, Grand Marshal, Chairs and Highlights

WINTERFEST is best known for its spectacular Boat Parade. The nighttime flotilla of brightly decorated yachts started in 1971. Spurred by the continued popularity of that event, a not-for-profit organization, WINTERFEST, Inc., was formed in 1988. Below are brief highlights:

1983

A Tropical Fantasy” is chosen as the first WINTERFEST theme. Participating boats add animation and props to interpret the theme.

1984

WINTERFEST goes national with Boat Parade Grand Marshal Willard Scott, famed meteorologist of NBC’s Today Show.
