Carey Chen, one of the elite marine artists in the world, is quickly attracting worldwide attention for his unparalleled portraits of life at sea.   Chen's fascinating use of colors and his aptitude for capturing detail has catapulted him to the forefront of the marine art industry.

 

Chen has been drawn to the ocean since childhood.   As a boy growing up in Jamaica , he frequently fished the shores and dove the reefs.   After relocating to Miami during his high school years, Chen began spending a lot of time fishing and diving the shores of the East Coast.   After several solid outings at local fishing tournaments, his reputation as an experienced and accomplished angler grew rapidly.  

The more he fished, the more he witnessed a range of surreal moments at sea.   From exhausting battles with Marlin to the tranquil feeling of the sun setting beyond calm waters, these visual memories became etched in Chen's mind.   As his photographic archive expanded, Chen began to sketch his memories on paper.   His first masterpieces were donated to fishing tournaments in an effort to gauge public acceptance.   Blown away by support, Chen began to spend more time in front of a canvas recreating some of his most memorable experiences.   The rest is history.
